Infinity Mining (ASX: IMI) has announced the identification of new electromagnetic (EM) conductors at its Bogong Copper Prospect in NSW, significantly boosting the project’s exploration potential. A re-evaluation of the 2019 Fixed-Loop Electromagnetic (FLEM) data by Mitre Geophysics confirmed an EM conductor coincident with known porphyry-style copper mineralization. This validates EM as an effective tool for identifying copper at Bogong.
Two additional, previously untested conductors were identified approximately 250 meters east of the main mineralized zone. These new conductors are associated with a >100 ppm copper-in-soil anomaly, further supporting their prospectivity. The Bogong prospect lies within the Macquarie Arc of the Lachlan Fold Belt, a region known for world-class porphyry copper-gold systems.
Previous drilling by DevEx Resources (ASX:DEV) returned significant copper intersections, including 54.9 m @ 1.06% Cu, indicating the presence of a substantial copper system. However, the drilling was limited, leaving potential for a larger porphyry-related copper system at depth. Infinity aims to use EM to define conductive targets that may represent higher-grade copper zones.
The newly identified eastern conductors lie on the flank of a high-chargeability induced polarization (IP) anomaly, suggesting copper mineralization may occur on both margins of the IP anomaly, consistent with the porphyry model. Infinity plans a more detailed EM survey over these new conductors to precisely define them before drill testing. These findings reinforce Infinity’s exploration strategy at Bogong, confirming EM as a key method for identifying copper mineralization across the project area. The company is committed to optimizing drill targeting to unlock the full potential of the Bogong prospect and will provide further updates as exploration progresses.
