DroneShield (ASX: DRO) has been awarded five contracts totaling $32.2 million to supply counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UxS) technology to a military end user in the Asia-Pacific region. The customer will receive the DroneShield products through an in-country reseller, a subsidiary of a multi-billion-dollar global publicly listed company that is contractually obligated to distribute to the military government department. The contracts specify vehicle-mounted and fixed C-UxS systems, with deliveries scheduled throughout the second and third quarters of this year.

The company’s CEO, Oleg Vornik, cited growing demand for DroneShield’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based platforms in the face of evolving threats from drones and autonomous systems. These new orders follow seven earlier contracts worth $12.3 million from the same reseller, announced in January. A $75 million capital raising conducted last year has enabled DroneShield to meet this escalating demand, with approximately $57.5 million allocated to building its inventory of detection and defeat systems and $7.5 million invested in research and development, specifically enhancing its AI and machine learning capabilities for improved threat detection and response.
