The Australian market struggled to hold on to early gains as the banks and mining stocks came under heavy selling.
The All Ordinaries Index added 12 points at the start of trade then by lunchtime the market had fallen into the red. But in the last 20 minutes of trade today the markets regained ground and finished only 1 point weaker.
