Amcor Tipped To Buy US Packaging Company

Media reports say Amcor could announce a multi-billion dollar takeover in the US today.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Amcor is in advanced talks to buy a smaller American packager, Bemis Co (http://www.bemis.com).

Shares of Bemis, which has a market value of about $US4.20 billion ($A5.67 billion), closed up 11.27% at $US51.53 on Friday. The shares are up 21% in the past month.

A deal could be announced as this week, perhaps today

Reuters said a spokesman for Amcor declined to comment.

Amcor is due to release its 2017-18 results in the next week.
