US sharemarkets were mixed on Thursday. Investors were in a holding pattern ahead of the key non-farm payrolls data out on Friday. Energy stocks fell on the back of lower oil prices. Exxon Mobil lost 1.2% while Chevron gave back 1.5%.

US sharemarkets recovered from lows on Wednesday. But investors remained cautious ahead of the OPEC meeting on Thursday and jobs data on Friday. After being down by 122 points, the Dow rose by 2.5 points or less than 0.1%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.1% while the Nasdaq gained 4 points or 0.1%.

US sharemarkets fell for a second straight session on Wednesday as soft private-sector employment data weighed on sentiment. Shares of Priceline fell 9.5% and was the biggest drag on the S&P and the Nasdaq after forecasts missed expectations.
