ASX200 rejects the area around 5430 in early trade, at this stage the index has shed around 2%.

Sellers continued to drive the market lower over the course of the afternoon on Wednesday. As a result the ASX 200 continued to make new lows stopping short at the 5400 level as pre Fed meeting jitters were being exploited.

The Australian sharemarket fell for the third straight day with the mining sector the only improver this week. Lending has jumped to a 6.5 year high while Chinese data tomorrow will be in focus for economists.

The ASX 200 has posted its first gain of the week on Wednesday. After an ambivalent start to the day, the market gradually built to the best levels of the session following a post lunch sell off. At its peak in late afternoon trade the market was ahead by almost 15 points.

Monday saw sellers return to the Australian share market for the first time in 7 sessions. Buyers made several early attempts at pushing the index higher, although they were thwarted on each occasion. The ASX 200 opened with a loss of 7 points; at session highs it was almost 5 points to the better.

The local share market spent the final session of the week consolidating on the improvements of the last 5 days. Friday’s gain meant that the ASX 200 has risen by just under 1.5% this week. The status quo amongst the sectors largely remained the same over the course of the second half of the day. Miners remained under pressure reflecting the weaker Chinese PMI data seen on Thursday.

The Australian sharemarket fell away from its earlier highs, after Chinese manufacturing figures fell to three – month lows. Both the All Ordinaries index and the ASX 200 gained close to 0.1 per cent.

The Australian sharemarket had its best week in 6 months; rose over 4 of the past 5 days and completely recovered from last week’s 2.1% slump.

The ASX200 fades on Wednesday having had its best day in a month yesterday.

ASX 200 loses 2.2% this week with the technology the worst sector led by CPU whose share have shed 4.2%.

Sellers continued to apply pressure to the ASX 200 over the course of the afternoon on Wednesday. So far this week the index has shed just over 0.8 per cent having lost half a per cent last week.

The local market is down around -0.25% & down below 5500pts at lunch.

The Australian market closed higher again today boosted by the better than expected “Flash” Chinese manufacturing data for July.

Today was a solid day for the markets and investors at last we saw the market putting some good runs on the board and the ASX 200 hit a new 6 year high.

It was another very quiet day on the Aussie market with total market turnover only at 2 Billion shares well down own the daily average. Investors nervous about entering the market at present and larger investors sitting the day out from trading ahead of tomorrow’s June quarter inflation numbers (CPI).
