Navitas directors yesterday accepted a higher $2.3 billion takeover bid from local private equity group BGH Consortium.

In a second set back for local buyout group BGH (See the Healthscope story), education pioneer, Navitas has rejected the $2 billion offer from the group which includes founder and current director, Rodney Jones.

Shares in education group Navitas reacted modestly to the news that it had rejected a $1.4 billion takeover offer from its co-founder and private equity firm BGH.

Led by BGH, the consortium is seeking to buy all the outstanding shares in Navitas, offering $5.50 cash a share. That’s a 26% premium to the company’s closing price on Tuesday.
